  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese frosting
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a mini heart-shaped cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, then add vanilla extract and red food coloring if desired.
  5. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the wet ingredients, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, filling each heart mold about 3/4 full.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow cakes to cool completely before removing from the pan.
  9. Frost each mini cake with cream cheese frosting and decorate with sprinkles or edible glitter.

Notes

For an extra touch, add a small fresh strawberry or raspberry on top of each cake before serving.
