  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a 9-inch pie plate. Crimp edges.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract.
  6. Stir in beaten eggs until well combined.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the bottom of the pie crust. Arrange pecan halves over the chocolate chips.
  8. Pour chocolate mixture over pecans.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until filling is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  10. Let cool completely before slicing and serving.
