Mustard Greens Recipe

A simple and flavorful sautéed mustard greens recipe that highlights the natural peppery taste of the greens, perfect as a nutritious side dish.

  • 1 bunch mustard greens, washed and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped mustard greens and stir well to coat with the oil and aromatics.
  5. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the greens are wilted and tender, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Season with salt, black pepper, and apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
  7. Stir to combine and cook for another minute.
  8. Remove from heat and serve warm as a nutritious side dish.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of soy sauce or toss in some cooked bacon bits before serving.
