Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until creamy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually mix in flour mixture until combined.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips.
  7. Shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls and gently mold each into a heart shape.
  8. Place on baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes; transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake and let them cool on the baking sheet; you can also drizzle melted white chocolate for an extra touch.
