gooey chocolate cake

This gooey chocolate cake is a decadent dessert perfect for chocolate lovers, featuring a rich, molten center and a tender crumb.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease 4 ramekins or a small baking dish.
  2. Melt butter and chopped chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
  3. Whisk sugar into the chocolate mixture until combined.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Gently fold in flour and salt until just combined.
  7. Divide batter evenly among ramekins.
  8. Bake for 12 minutes until edges are set but center is still soft.
  9. Let cool for 2 minutes, then invert onto plates and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve immediately.
