Decadent Slice of French Silk Pie

Indulge in the creamy decadence of French Silk Pie. This classic dessert features a buttery chocolate crust filled with a light and airy chocolate mousse, topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

  • For the Chocolate Crust:
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate wafer crumbs
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • For the Filling:
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped, for topping
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the Crust: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine chocolate wafer crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Press mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Let cool completely.
  3. Make the Filling: In a large bowl, cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually beat in melted chocolate, vanilla extract, and salt.
  6. Pour filling into cooled crust. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the filling to set.
  7. Before serving, top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Notes

For an extra touch, dust the top of the whipped cream with cocoa powder before serving.
