Indulge in a warm and comforting Dutch Caramel Apple Pie, featuring a buttery streusel topping and a rich caramel-infused apple filling. This classic dessert is perfect for autumn gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6-8 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Gala), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce, plus more for drizzling
  • Streusel Topping:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss to coat.
  3. Stir in 1/4 cup caramel sauce.
  4. Make the Streusel Topping: In a separate bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats, and salt. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into a 9-inch pie dish.
  6. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender. If the topping starts to brown too quickly, cover the pie loosely with foil.
  8. Let the pie cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with additional caramel sauce, if desired.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra special treat.
