Copycat Longhorn Broccoli

This Copycat Longhorn Broccoli dish features tender steamed broccoli topped with a rich cheddar cheese sauce, perfectly mimicking the beloved Longhorn Steakhouse side.

  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Steam the broccoli florets until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese and garlic powder until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
  6. Season the cheese sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Pour the cheese sauce over the steamed broccoli and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle some crispy bacon bits or chopped green onions on top before serving.
