Cheddar Jalapeño Burgers

Spicy and cheesy, these Cheddar Jalapeño Burgers combine juicy beef patties with sharp cheddar cheese and fresh jalapeños for a flavorful twist on a classic favorite.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce leaves, for serving
  • Tomato slices, for serving
  • Mayonnaise or preferred burger sauce, optional

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, shredded cheddar, chopped jalapeños, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to combine.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, about 3/4-inch thick.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach desired doneness and cheese is melted.
  5. Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or skillet.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing the patty on the bottom bun, then adding lettuce, tomato slices, and mayonnaise or sauce if desired. Top with the bun.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For extra smoky flavor, try adding a dash of smoked paprika to the beef mixture or serving with chipotle mayo.
