Butter Chicken Skillet is a creamy, flavorful Indian-inspired dish featuring tender chicken cooked in a rich tomato and butter sauce, perfect for a quick and comforting dinner.

  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat until melted.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and ginger; cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle garam masala, turmeric, cumin, chili powder, and paprika over the chicken and stir to coat evenly.
  6. Pour in tomato puree, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  7. Stir in heavy cream and cook for another 5 minutes until sauce is creamy and chicken is fully cooked.
  8. Season with salt to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

Serve with basmati rice or warm naan for an authentic experience. For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
