A quick and flavorful beef stir fry with crisp vegetables and a savory sauce, perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove beef and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining oil, then sauté the garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the bell pepper, broccoli, and carrot; stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until vegetables are crisp-tender.
  5. Return the beef to the pan along with green onions.
  6. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and hoisin sauce, mixing well.
  7. Pour in the cornstarch slurry and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

For extra heat, add a splash of chili garlic sauce or sprinkle with red pepper flakes before serving.
