This delicious Baked Cheesy Dumpling Casserole combines tender dumplings with a rich, creamy cheese sauce baked to golden perfection, perfect for a comforting family meal.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package (2 tsp) baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (optional)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in milk and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, cooked chicken, onion, bell pepper, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika.
  5. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and spread the soup mixture evenly in the dish.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough over the mixture, spacing them evenly.
  7. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  8. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until dumplings are golden and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, omit the chicken and add mushrooms or cooked vegetables like zucchini or spinach.
