Delicious Homemade Apple Brownies

These apple brownies are a delicious fall treat, combining the fudgy goodness of brownies with the sweet, comforting flavor of apples. Perfect for an afternoon snack or dessert, they’re sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup peeled and diced apples (such as Honeycrisp or Gala)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the diced apples and chopped nuts (if using).
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  9. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
