Aloo Keema Curry

Aloo Keema Curry is a flavorful Indian dish combining minced meat and potatoes in a rich, spiced tomato gravy, perfect for a hearty family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 300g minced meat (keema)
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add garlic and ginger, cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Mix in coriander powder, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the minced meat and cook until it starts to brown, breaking any lumps.
  6. Add diced potatoes and stir well to combine with the spices and meat.
  7. Pour in water, cover the pan, and simmer on low heat for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender and meat is cooked through.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala and mix well. Cook uncovered for 5 minutes to thicken the curry.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of lemon juice before serving or garnish with finely chopped green chilies for heat.
